Caramelized Onions

How do you make easy caramelized onions?
Cut the onions into thin strips and place them in a pot with sugar, salt, and a little water. Cook uncovered over low heat for 20-30 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent burning, until the liquid evaporates and the onions are tender, glossy, and caramelized.
Caramelized onions are a delicious side dish that can accompany countless dishes. I particularly love enjoying them in veggie burgers, hot dogs, or simply with a piece of fresh bread or freshly made tortillas. This recipe is easy to make, and I assure you it is not too sweet.

Servings: For 4 people
Ingredients
- 300 g red or white onions
- 50 g cane sugar
- 1 pinch of salt
- 50 ml water

Instructions
Start by cutting the onions into thin slices, either by hand or with the help of a food processor, so they are all practically the same.

Place the slices in a small pot together with the sugar and pinch of salt.

Pour in the small amount of water and cook gently, uncovered, for 20-30 minutes, until the sugar melts. Stir continuously and make sure they do not burn or stick to the bottom of the pot.

When you see that all the water has evaporated and the onions are soft and creamy, they are ready.

Let cool and enjoy them as a side dish with your favorite meal.
Enjoy your meal!
